VIP offers from Destination DC members, exclusively for IPW delegates.

What is IPW? Who produces it?

U.S. Travel Association’s IPW is the travel industry’s premier international marketplace and the largest industry creator of travel to the U.S. Created in 1969, IPW has been held annually in 23 major U.S. cities. Washington, DC will host IPW for the first time June 3-7 2017.

Who attends?

Washington, DC will welcome guests from 75 countries who will have 105,000 intensive pre-scheduled 20-minute business appointments in three days.

Delegates include:

  • 1,500 international buyers (tour operators, travel agents, wholesalers, retailers)
  • 500 international and domestic media representatives
  • 4,500 suppliers (hotels, attractions, transportation providers, destination marketing organizations, etc.)

When are the IPW Delegate Deals offers valid?

May 27 – June 11, 2017 (throughout IPW +/- four days before and after).

Is there anything different from Destination DC’s Show Your Badge (SYB) Program for meetings and conventions?

Yes. This special IPW program will showcase exclusive and valuable offers and experiences from Destination DC members. Special IPW offerings will encourage delegates to enjoy the unique activities and amenities DC has to offer, showcasing your business to an international audience.  Because this program is targeted to those who might be in town before receiving their badge, Destination DC wants to ensure you have the opportunity to attract delegates to your business. Delegates will be able to show they are an IPW attendee electronically.

Which partners are eligible to participate?

Restaurants, bars, attractions and activities are the best businesses to participate in this program. Because Destination DC is supporting hotel partners and the official U.S. Travel Association IPW room block, hotel partners cannot participate in this offering. However, restaurants and spas that are part of hotel properties are eligible and encouraged to participate.

How do I put together the right offer?

Destination DC will review and approve all offers and may make suggestions to help you craft an enticing incentive or perk. Remember, these delegates are your customers and represent up to one million future visitors to DC. For example, you should consider FREE experience or perks.

How are offers redeemed by the delegates?

Delegates will be able to show they are an IPW attendee electronically. You decide what kind of deals to offer and if your business will extend the offer to delegate’s guests and family. Your offer should clearly include how to redeem with a code, email and/or point of contact. Destination DC will not fulfill offers on your behalf.

How will IPW attendees learn about IPW Delegate Deals?

  • IPW 2017 microsite (washington.org/ipw2017)
  • Official U.S. Travel Association IPW 2017 app
  • Email communications to delegates
  • At the host city booth located at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center during IPW 2017
  • Welcome desk at each of the 15 IPW 2017 headquarter hotels

The IPW Delegate Deal program are exclusively available to members of Destination DC and CRUSA partners.
