Civil Rights

Join us for a walk in the footsteps of icons, meet members of movements and understand where Americans protest peacefully for change. Visit the Lincoln Memorial where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his historic “I Have a Dream” speech during the March on Washington in 1963, before honoring the civil rights leader with a trip to his national memorial. Explore DC’s newest Smithsonian museum, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and visit Ben’s Chili Bowl, a DC institution famous for its half-smoke as well its survival of the race riots in the 1960s. The tour will also take participants inside the home of abolitionist and equal rights advocate, Fredrick Douglass, in Anacostia.
