2 Hours Exploring Summer Fun on the Capitol Riverfront

Go behind the scenes at Nats Stadium and cool off at Canal Park.

Stop One

See where the home team plays

1500 South Capitol Street SE DC’s glittering, glass baseball stadium is home to the Washington Nationals. While they’re on the road when IPW is in town, tours of the cutting-edge venue are available on June 5 and 6. The tour includes a look in the Nationals dugout, the press box, a luxury suite—and even throwing a pitch in the bullpen!

Stop Two

Frolic in the Canal Park water fountains

200 M Street SE In the summer, Capitol Riverfront’s main park hosts locals and visitors alike who are looking to cool off. There’s plenty of green space for relaxing, and dancing water fountains are fun for kids (and brave adults) who want to run around sprinkler-style!

Stop Three

Get a cone at Ice Cream Jubilee

301 Water Street SE Without a doubt, Capitol Riverfront’s coolest (pun intended) ice cream shop is Ice Cream Jubilee. The small shop makes unique flavors from locally sourced ingredients. Keep the Nats theme going with Nats Red Velvet Cake, or celebrate the summer with the store’s back-by-popular-demand tropical flavor, Dark & Stormy (vanilla ice cream with Gosling’s Dark Rum and candied ginger).
