2 Hours of Dining on U Street

The U Street corridor is one of DC’s coolest dining districts. Sample the flavors with a foodie-focused tour.

Stop One

Say hello to the locals at Ben’s Chili Bowl

1213 U Street NW
A stop on U Street wouldn’t be complete without a visit to its most enduring and iconic local spot, Ben’s Chili Bowl. The restaurant is famous for its half smoke (former President Obama even once stopped by to give it a try!) and is busy morning to late night with locals and visitors alike wanting their fix.

Stop Two

Hear some spoken word at Busboys & Poets

2021 14th Street NW Busboys & Poets is a hybrid restaurant and event space, featuring, on any given night, poetry slams, author talks and open mic nights. Stop in for a light bite and catch up on some reading at the on-site book shop.

Stop Three

Experience Ethiopian

1118 U Street NW DC has one of the most thriving Ethiopian cuisine scenes in the country and your best bet for an authentic experience is Dukem, which offers an extensive menu along with nightly live Ethiopian music and performances.
